A positive aspect of the present Corona times is the increasing awareness that local or regional travelling get higher preference and that one should think twice before going on a long-distance climate harming international travel. For the countries, Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark, the LT&C Example Wadden Sea offers great opportunities to combine healthy holidays with exploring wild nature and supporting its protection.

Now a new app will become available to explore the Wadden Sea region at your own pace and discover nature along the way: The new online guide “World Heritage Explorer” offers hiking routes at various levels to explore the Wadden Sea World Heritage on the mainland and islands. The guide has been developed by WWF Germany within the German-Danish Interreg project “NAKUWA – Nature and Cultural Tourism on the Wadden Sea“. The first 25 routes are featured in the Danish and North Frisian Wadden Sea region in both Danish and German language. Translations to English and Dutch as well as further tours in the Lower Saxon and Dutch part are planned to complement the offer over time. The World Heritage Explorer is available online and an app is in preparation.
